OMG, I e-mailed SueB because I found an airline deal from Florida for $60 each way to Philly!  Cannot wait to hear the official dates of HH2012 so I can book it!

Is anyone planning on exploring afterward for a day or two?

I'm going to be staying a couple of days after, then taking the train to New York to see my niece ... at least that's the plan right now  :smile2:

I'd love to poke around the city a little, but probably won't spend an entire week like we used to do. 

If Spirit Airlines flies from where you are, check their rates.  This is where I found that $60 deal.

I told Skihee at our WW meeting this morning.  Maybe she'll be able to swing it, although it's right at the beginning of the school year.  And I think Saucehead is in.  She may be living up that way by September.  :banana:

I'll be staying a few days after the con too as I've never been to the Philly area before and have time. *waiting patiently for confirmed dates*  :happy2:

I am really, really trying to make it for the weekend of Sept. 15, whenever the days surrounding it are. A hotel I thought was a lock fell through today because they are "totally full" though I suspect we are just too cheesy for them. I still have some possibilities but I am trying, really I am. I won't know for at least another week now, as I am back to square one.

LOL!  I felt had to sell us as a serious historical group to Shakertown too - I felt awkward enough hinting that we might wander through their sacred grounds in our jammies with our pillows for late night movie watching.  If they only knew...

Mags -- it's still early.  I was just wondering about the dates.  I can't book any flights yet anyway (need to get tax return first!).

I remember when PJ and I were booking the hotel in Tampa.  We came right out and told them what the group was about, albeit put a historical spin on it.  When we saw the conference rooms and were told that they had a lot of weddings there, we we worried that 45 people yelling "fiyah!" next to a reception might become an issue.   :laughing1:

Hmm...beginning to think I should bump it to the last weekend in September. Though it might be a little depressing. I am hoping to get them to drag out some of the 18th/19th century costume stuff for us. :D

The hotel hunt continues. You'd think we were bringing a leper convention, not a gathering of history geeks...sheesh.

Have you checked with the Visitor's and Convention Bureau?  They'd be able to tell you if there was something going on that weekend.  Ship contacted them and it really helped us get our place in San Diego.
